Lorraine Robbins
Jerwood Drawing Prize-winner Lorraine Robbins combines her own fine art practice with teaching Art and Design at Stroud College.
in a series of recent self-portraits she explores what the self means in contemporary western society. Using herself as the subject, Robbins' finely detailed drawing style emphasises surface and technique rather than expressive mark-making. This acts in stark contrast to the subject matter which is often intentionally emotive or challenging.
Robbins is the first guest curator to be invited to work with Gallery Pangolin. Her show 'Strange Beasts: Lynn Chadwick and the New Generation' opened in June 2011.
